Positioned on the edge of a cliff on the border of the malaria-free Elands Krans Nature Reserve, Acra-Retreat Mountain View Lodge looks out over the mountains and valley of Emgwenya. Lush gardens, a homely atmosphere and genuine hospitality welcome couples, families, solo travellers and groups alike.
Ideally placed 2.5 hours' drive from Johannesburg on the way to the Kruger National Park, the lodge is a natural stopover and an easy base for the Panorama Route towards Hoedspruit and the landscapes of Mpumalanga.

Every room has a private entrance to the decks with mountain views, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, tea and coffee facilities, a safe and a fan. From comfortable guest rooms to family rooms, a cottage and a spacious luxury suite, the spaces are clean, quiet and prepared with care - on cold evenings, heaters are switched on before you arrive.

The owners and team take pride in making every guest feel at home. Helpful local recommendations, a willingness to go the extra mile and an informal, friendly character give the lodge its distinctive charm. Horse riding, mountain climbing, abseiling and spa treatments can be arranged at reception.
Home-cooked meals and sundowners
Breakfast is served daily from 08:00 to 10:00 as a buffet with continental, full English, vegetarian and vegan choices, or packed to go. Dinners are served on request with German, international and South African dishes, and the fully licensed pub and deck are made for sundowners above the valley.
